Doughnut-Hole Country

I read a NewsWeek article thats based on people staying or leaving rural areas.
There is four groups they categorized people with Stayers, Achievers, Seekers, and Returners.
Out of these I categorize myself as a stayer due too me planing on going to a small town for a technical college and stay there where I can be away from the city and have a good amount of privacy and to not be limited by lots of rules which increase in the cities. I want to be able to have a large piece of land and a medium sized house with a big garage and a few dogs. Where I do not have lots of neighbors and am free to work as I please. Doing mechanic work carpentry and electrical work.

Past opinion piece

My favorite opinion piece was the topless coffee shop because everyone had something to say. We were not quite about this subject. I liked it because it was different and something that you would not expect in Maine. I really enjoy things that are unexcpected.

The most boring book

The most boring book we read this year happens to be the most boring book I have read in my life. It happens to be called Fahrenheight 451 and is written by Ray Bradbury. This book is about a fantasy distopia. It follows an man who happens to be a fire man. His only job was to burn books and find people who are hiding books. In this future world books are illegal and the government has brain washed most of the people in the book. It is a very long book even though it is about 100 pages. Its just so boring that it drivies you nuts.

I have to agree with this quote because everyone especially now a days is trying to control everything around them in order to do things there way instead of somebody Else's. There is more than one way to do everything and someways are easier than others and if you will allow yourself to learn from others you can make life easier on yourself than it was prehand.

Reflection

This school year has gone by fast and for that I am very thankful. In this class over the present year I got to be with some of my senior buddies and finish there last school year with them especially my good friend Jordan who I am really gonna miss next year. I really liked the fact we did not actually do allot of written stuff. We did more reading and hands on activities then anything else this year. I am really gonna remember the fun I had this year and a book never to read again which is Fahrenheit 451.

Play we read

I really enjoyed reading the play twelfth night. I enjoyed this because it was really funny at most times. It made this class more exciting for the time we read it. It was nice to see everyone laughing rather then debating with each other.

Past opinion piece issue

We wrote about the topless coffee shop and about whether it should be built or not. The coffee shop was built and did seem to be going well. Someone set fire to the coffee shop so it burnt down. The owner has decided to rebuild the coffee shop. At the moment the owner is serving free donuts and coffee and is accepting any donations at the remains of the coffee shop. I was for the topless coffee shop opening up in hope to increase the tourism in Maine. No matter how many people move to Maine the population keeps dropping. The only thing keeping this state going is the tourist that come for the skiing and snowboarding in the winter and the tourist that want to get away from the heat of there state come during the summer where its normally cooler.

Issues

I would like to continue writing about the legalisation of marijuana. I would also enjoy writing about the different things going on in Maine now that people never thought would ever happen. I would like to write about animals and weapons. The war and past war issues would be really good for our history and should be talked about since history normally repeats its self.

Improved writing

This year I have improved my writing by paying more attention to what I'm writing. my sloppy copy is more of my final now. I am making less corrections now then I was at the begining of the year. I have started brainstorming more in my head which has allowed me to get more done while writing less. I think those are the most important ways I have improved on.

favorite opinion piece

My favorite opinion piece was the topless coffee shop. I really liked this piece because everyone had allot to say about it. And that it was extremely different in the Maine area. This coffee shop could be good for business and for tourism. Then again it could be bad for us since it could bring in wild people that start destroying everything and end up spending more money fixing the town then you make at the coffee shop so that's y opinion.
